    Lent-Fasting And Abstinence

    Lenten Fasting 2016

Our observance of Lent began on Ash Wednesday, a day of fast and abstinence for Catholics.

Ash Wednesday and Good Friday are obligatory days of universal fast and abstinence.  Fasting is obligatory for all who have completed their 18th year and have not yet reached their 60th year.  Fasting allows a person to eat one full meal.  Two smaller meals may be taken, not to equal one full meal.  Abstinence (from meat) is obligatory for all who have reached their 14th year.

Fridays in Lent are obligatory days of complete abstinence (from meat) for all who have completed their 14th year.

Save the Date: Parish Day of Service

    All daySt. Basil the Great

    Service Day Graphic

Our next Parish Day of Service will be held on Saturday, April 23, 2016.  Hundreds of parishioners will once again offer time and talent to help their brothers and sisters in need.  This year we are expanding the program to perform projects for parishioners who, because of age, health or economic reasons, may need some help cleaning , organizing or completing small painting projects within their homes or performing outdoor yard maintenance.

If you are in need, or you are aware of a parishioner that may require some assistance, please contact Kathleen Mayher at 330-659-7349 or Rose Jancsy at 440-546-1325. Watch for more information as to how you can volunteer in the coming months.  (Confidentially will be maintained)  "...Whatever you did for the least of my Brothers...you did for me..." Matthew 25:40
