CYO Winter Sports
St. Basil’s sponsors boys and girls basketball teams for grades 3-12. Registration occurs in September and October. Practices begin in November and competition begins in December and continues through mid-March. Practices are typically held on weeknights and competitions are scheduled for either Saturday or Sunday. CYO also offers cheerleading & wrestling winter programs. Parishioners interested in these additional sports not sponsored at St. Basil may be eligible to participate in a neighboring parish’s program.
St. Basil Basketball Site Coordinators Needed!
The Gym in the Family Life Center is a great facility and our teams enjoy having some home games during the basketball season. In order to host CYO games, Site Coordinators are needed to manage game days at the FLC Gym. It involves interacting with the teams and officials and managing the facility on game days. Site Coordinators are paid for their time by the Athletic Association. If you are interested in helping and would like more information about the opportunity, please contact the St. Basil Athletic Association Hosting Coordinator, Joe Canzano at 440.465.1850. We are hoping to identify 2 or more individuals to share the duties and enable us to have home games for the St. Basil Basketball Teams.
The 2025-26 Basketball Season Has Concluded. Please be aware of the following for next season:
- Registration is open from early September through late October for all grade levels.
- Late registration begins October 15th for Grade School teams, and October 21st for High School Teams
- An additional $15 fee is incurred during Late registration until teams / grade levels are full.
- We typically close rosters by October 22nd, and begin practice the following week.
- If your athlete is trying out for a Middle School or High School team and CYO is a fallback plan, please reach out to the St. Basil Basketball Commissioner Dan Savage to make him aware: basilbasketball@gmail.com
- We are always in need of additional coaches! Please reach out to the Commissioner to express interest and begin the credentialing process.
Practices start in late October with the first games in early December. All schedules will be posted on the CYO website.
St. Basil Basketball is open to all St. Basil parishioners and PSR attendees. Neighborhood athletes may be eligible to participate depending on space availability. Please contact the Basketball Commissioner (basilbasketball@gmail.com) for more information.
