Sacrament of Reconciliation
The Sacrament of Reconciliation exists for the forgiveness of our sins. Sin hurts our relationships with God, our neighbors, and ourselves.
If a person comes to the Sacrament with sorrow, detests their sins, and has a resolution not to sin again, then God will forgive any and every sin in the confessional. By the priest’s sacramental absolution God grants the penitent ‘pardon and peace’ (CCC 1424).
Our regular confession schedule is changing! Beginning January 3, 2026 the Saturday Confession time is changing from 3:30-4:30 pm to the new time of 8:30-9:30 am. In cooperation with our deanery (group of parishes in our area), we are changing our Confession time to give the people of God an opportunity for a different time for confession. Special times are also offered during the liturgical seasons of Advent and Lent.

First Reconciliation
The second grade religious education curriculum prepares children to celebrate First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion. Parents are required to attend one meeting in preparation for each sacrament. Older children who have not celebrated these sacraments are prepared privately. Arrangements for this preparation can be made by contacting dre @ basilthegreat.org.
