Join MMGSI for a comprehensive introduction to Christology, exploring the biblical foundations, historical development, and doctrinal depths of the Church’s faith in Jesus Christ, seeking insight into what we affirm when we say that he is “fully God and fully man.” Students will trace the Church’s confession of Christ from the witness of the Gospels and apostolic preaching through the great Christological councils of Nicaea, Ephesus, and Chalcedon, examining the key figures, controversies, and conceptual developments that gave rise to the classical formulation of the hypostatic union.
Emphasizing rigorous engagement with the sources of Christological faith, the course draws on Scripture, the Fathers of the Church, and the conciliar tradition to illuminate who Jesus Christ is and what he came to accomplish — his Incarnation, public ministry, Paschal Mystery, and ongoing mission in the life of the Church. Attention will also be given to the practical and devotional implications of Christology — how knowledge of Christ’s person shapes Christian prayer, worship, and discipleship. No prior theological study required.
